Although the couple who own this 40-year-old ranch style home both work long hours, they enjoy coming home to their kitchen to prepare meals together and felt it was time to bring their interior space up-to-date.
In the kitchen, this was done by removing the old oak cabinetry, refinishing the existing oak flooring, and changing the footprint of the kitchen. A peninsula was removed and replaced with a double-sided island allowing more storage. The perimeter cabinetry was kept light and airy with a white paint and vintage walnut accent, while the center island helps ground the space with rustic alder in a darker stain.
To counter balance the neutral quartz counter top and patterned backslash of the perimeter, a warm beige quartzite top was selected for the island. The addition of professional style appliances throughout led to the addition of a beautiful, decorative wood hood with an efficient, higher-end blower system and liner hidden inside.
The new professional grade appliances and improved functionality of the space allow the homeowners to do what they love, prepare exquisite dinners together.
