CARB ATCM 93120 Phase 2 and TSCA Title VI Compliant
Showplace Cabinetry is constructed with materials including hardwood plywood, medium density fiberboard, and/or particleboard that fully comply with the country's most stringent formaldehyde emissions standards set by the California Air Resources Board (CARB) Airborne Toxic Control Measure (ATCM) 93120 Phase 2.
The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (U.S. EPA) has also adopted regulation to reduce formaldehyde emissions; through its TSCA Title VI regulation, the U.S. EPA has adopted on a nationwide basis the identical standards as enacted previously by the California Air Resources Board.
Regardless of whether Showplace cabinets are shipped to California or any other destination, all
composite wood components are "CARB ATCM 93120 Phase 2 compliant and EPA TSCA Title VI compliant.”
What is California Proposition 65?
Initiated by California voters in 1986 in response to concerns about exposure to toxic chemicals, the Safe Drinking Water and Toxic Enforcement Act of 1986 is better known as California Proposition 65 or Prop 65.
This regulation is administered by the Office of Environmental Health Hazard Assessment (OEHHA), which is a division of the California Environmental Protection Agency (CalEPA).
This regulation requires the agency to maintain a list of chemicals or other substances which are known to the State of California to cause cancer or other reproductive harm. The list has grown to more than 900 chemicals and is maintained and available from OEHHA's website.
Prop 65 requires "clear and reasonable warnings" be provided to California residents by retailers (whether brick-and-mortar establishments or online sources) prior to purchasing products that may contain one or more chemicals included on the Prop 65 list as a carcinogen or reproductive toxin.
