From Bill’s Desk
By Bill Allen, CEO of Showplace Cabinetry
Investing in the future is always part of the plan here at Showplace Cabinetry. Construction equipment is hard at work on the Showplace campus right now as we move forward on a long-planned project to streamline shipping and maximize ShowplaceEVO cabinetry production.
The new building project will unite the two Harrisburg production plants with a common shipping area. Currently, a lot of our materials are trucked from our panel warehouse or the framed cabinet manufacturing building to the separate EVO facility and then finished EVO cabinet orders are sent back to the shipping area in the framed cabinet facility. That’s a lot trucks making many short but necessary trips each day from one manufacturing plant to the other one just across the street.
Soon, following the addition of 17,000 square feet of warehousing and production space linking the two buildings, completed ShowplaceEVO orders will flow straight off the trim line into the central warehouse area and move directly to shipping, reducing the handling of completed cabinetry and maximizing efficiency. The space gained in the EVO plant by moving finished cabinet storage to the new connecting warehouse and shipping facility will increase EVO production capacity, giving ShowplaceEVO the space to increase the number of cabinets produced each day.
This $2.5 million project will also improve conditions for our employee-owners, providing a sheltered walkway from the framed cabinet plant to the EVO plant to protect them from the extremes of our South Dakota weather. Added to the new efficiencies in streamlined EVO logistics and handling, better order flow from production to shipping, and modernized technology and increased space in the shipping department, this building project takes Showplace to the next level in meeting a steadily rising demand for our cabinetry lines.
The new addition is a tribute to our dealers, who make Showplace a popular choice among North American consumers, and our employee-owners, who maintain our reputation for cabinetry quality and service excellence.
