The rest of the story ...
The homeowners' goals for this project were to update, open up the space and make their home more functional for entertaining. They wanted more seating and upgraded appliances as well as new stair case.
To open up the space we eliminated some columns, the return peninsula, ceiling soffits and stair case wall built ins. We relocated appliances and took the cabinets to the ceiling. By eliminating the existing desk and built in cabinets outside the stairwell we were able to open up the stairs and create a new design feature. We also didn't want to lose the existing storage under the stairs in the pantry. The original wood floors were to remain as well.
With the mix of inset cabinet with some ShowplaceEVO parts, we were able to create a clean flush look through the space. I used EVO parts for the panel ready refrigerator, freezer and wine fridge as well as with the custom walk in pantry doors next to the hutch. By adding a coffee bar on the far wall we were able to increase the floor space of the overall kitchen.
The homeowners love how open and functional the kitchen is for not only every day life but also for entertaining. With the additional seating on the island to the extra storage in the taller cabinets.
My favorite design aspect is that we used the Hickory Dusk finish on the island as well as in the backs of the glass cabinets in the hutch and coffee bar. By adding the finished interior backs, we were able to warm the space up and tie it all together. I also love the inset product. With the use of EVO panels and parts, we created a true inset built-in look on those appliance panels, as well as with the custom walk in pantry.

Love the hutch area. Works so well with the design of the house.
A very pretty kitchen!
