The rest of the story ...

The homeowners wanted to increase the size of their kitchen and create clean open space for family gatherings and day to day comfort using rich wood colors and contrasting gray paint.

A challenge to the design was that the homeowners wanted a very open feel with large windows and open wall space. So a large portion of their storage space would need to be in base cabinets in order to achieve this. They also wanted to be able to seat six people at a casual Island.

Using the Aria door style with stained cherry island and painted Dovetail perimeter, we designed the kitchen to have a modern feel with a very large island in order to give them the storage space and the seating that they required. We incorporated open shelves on the window wall to maintain the open theme.

The homeowners loved the clean modern lines of the cherry Island, wall cabinets and sideboard with gray painted base and tall cabinets. They also loved the large countertop and seating area on the Island.

My favorite part of this design was designing a modern look by incorporating the cherry wood tones tones with the gray paint.

Comments from our judges ...

I like the mixture of paint and wood.
