The rest of the story ...
The existing laundry room was to be transformed into a multi functional space. The goal of the new space was to function as not only a laundry room but also a mud room and butler pantry. The clients wanted the space to be an extension of the kitchen for when they entertain. This space also had to flow with the kitchen. The goal was tie the spaces together.
We had the challenge of taking an existing laundry room and transforming it into a mud room, butler pantry and laundry room without breaking the bank. This is an old home that had existing built in closets, a floor drain in the back corner, soffits and a laundry shoot. The homeowner asked us to transform the space while also modernizing it. The other challenge was keeping it fresh and updated but also connecting it with the kitchen.
We decided to add a wall to separate the washer/dryer laundry area with double pocket doors. This way when they are entertaining you can close this area off. This helped define the space of the mud room and butler pantry. We split this area up as a galley with the mud built ins on one side with a sink while the other side contains the butler pantry station with fridge and built in ovens. We included uppers and lowers with a large countertop for not only serving and prepping but for daily living it doubles as a folding station off the dryer.
To achieve a connection with the kitchen we used the same door style but in the EVO line to be mindful of the budget. The mud bench seat and corbels are in the same finish as the kitchen island. And to create a modern take on the space we choose the Smokey Blue paint as a fun twist to create some character. With the ShowplaceEVO frameless cabinets we pulled all fillers and panels flush with the doors and drawer fronts to give the illusion of a simple clean almost inset look. The kitchen is inset so this allowed us to keep the same look while using a different construction.
The clients loved how we were able to achieve multi function without breaking the bank. The EVO line allowed for maximum storage in the space and with Showplace customization we could make use of every inch.
We love the mix of color in this space. The Smokey Blue paint was the perfect color to tie all the interior selections together. The wallpaper, striped tile floor and Hickory Dusk bench were features that needed to be pulled together.
